SEPTEMBER 2008

Engineers and Technical Professionals

On August 1st, I was inducted as Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS).  I’m honored to represent the many thousands of recruiting and search professionals who are part of our NAPS membership.  The National Association of Personnel Services has been the personnel services industry educator since 1961 and enjoys its reputation as the oldest association representing our industry.

The association was formed to represent our profession in critical legislative arenas in Washington, DC, provide legislative guidance and aid in states where government affairs challenges exist, create a structure of ethical practices for industry self-regulation, increase public and business awareness of the value of personnel services, and to educate members and non-members towards better practices and the maintenance of high professional standards. With the formation of NAPS, education and training of practitioners took on a national dimension. NAPS began to conduct annual conferences, continuing education opportunities, and educational seminars to bring needed help and training to individuals, owners, and managers across the United States. NAPS’s reach now spans several continents.

Our upcoming conference in October will have representatives from the personnel services industry in close to a dozen countries outside of the US!  Through its certification programs (CPC, CTS, PRC, CERS), continuing education initiatives, eLearning and its annual conference, NAPS continues to set and raise the bar for quality and excellence in the staffing industry. If you are an employer or a candidate searching for a professional to guide you through the ever-demanding process of placement, ask if the firm you’re dealing with is a NAPS member!

Member firms of NAPS are committed to providing the best service possible by staying current in "best practices" and awareness of laws affecting the placement process.  With the recent creation of the National Registry of Certified Staffing Industry Professionals (NRCSIP), NAPS is using its Internet home to provide information about the men and women who have achieved and maintain the CPC and CTS designations. This information is placed here to validate the credentials of staffing industry professionals.  As you weigh the merits of working with one recruiter over another, please take a moment to check out their credentials at www.nrcsip.com
